Lo/La studente/essa deve essere in grado di riconoscere le lesioni GI più comuni; descrivere le caratteristiche morfologiche e i meccanismi eziopatogenetici dei processi patologici descritti durante le lezioni; discutere i meccanismi fisiopatologici associati ai disturbi gastroenterici comuni mediante l'identificazione della possibile eziologia.
1) CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE. Lo/La studente dovrà mostrare che ha acquisito la nozione di base dei meccanismi fisiopatologici associati ai comuni disturbi gastroenterici. Queste abilità sono stimolate dall'interazione tra lezioni frontali teoriche e attività pratiche e ulteriormente supportate dai materiali di apprendimento disponibili. Il/La professore/essa è inoltre disponibile per ulteriori informazioni.
2) CAPACITA' DI APPLICARE LA CONOSCENZA E LA COMPRENSIONE. L'attività pratica consentirà di verificare e applicare le conoscenze. Durante le attività pratiche, talvolta verranno riportate informazioni più dettagliate su argomenti delle lezioni frontali in cui gli studenti avranno l'opportunità di esprimersi e valutare le loro conoscenze acquisite.
3) AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO. L'autonomia sarà incoraggiata permettendo allo/a studente/essa di discutere i casi patologici attraverso l'identificazione dei meccanismi patogenetici e fisiopatologici.
4) ABILITA' COMUNICATIVE. Lo/La studente/essa dimostrerà l'uso corretto e tempestivo della terminologia specialistica quando esporrà i contenuti in un contesto di patofisiologia e un'analisi logica e sequenziale dei rapporti causa-effetto nei meccanismi fisiopatologici associati a comuni disturbi gastroenterici. Le competenze di comunicazione dello/a studente/essa verranno valutate all'esame finale. La capacità comunicativa sarà anche stimolata dall'interattività in classe.
5) CAPACITÀ DI APPRENDIMENTO. Le competenze di apprendimento indipendente saranno stimolate proponendo approfondimenti su argomenti specifici durante le lezioni frontali e le attività pratiche. Il/La professore/essa stimolerà anche l'acquisizione dei concetti teorici proponendo discussione e interazione tra gli argomenti.
The student must be able to recognize the most common GI lesions; describe the morphological features and etiopathogenetic mechanisms of the pathological processes described during the lectures; discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with common gastro-enteric disorders by the identification of the potential aetiology.
1) KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION. The student will have to show that he/she has acquired basic notion of the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with common gastro-enteric disorders. These skills are stimulated by the interaction between lectures and practical activity and further supported by the available learning materials. The professor is also available for further informations.
2) ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION. The practical activity allows to check and apply the knowledge. During the practical activities, more detailed information are sometimes reported on topics of the frontal lessons in which students have the opportunity to express themselves and assess their acquired knowledge.
3) JUDGEMENT. The autonomy is encouraged by allowing the student to discuss pathological cases through the identification of the pathogenetic and pathophysiological mechanisms.
4) COMMUNICATION SKILLS. The student will demonstrate correct and timely use of specialist terminology when exposing contents in a pathophysiology context and a logic and sequential analysis of cause/effect relations in pathophysiological mechanisms associated with common gastro-enteric disorders. The communication skills of the student are evaluated at the final examination. The communicative ability is also stimulated by interactivity in the classroom.5) LEARNING SKILLS. The independent learning skills are stimulated by proposing insights on specific topics during the frontal lessons and practical activities. The professor also stimulates the acquisition of the concepts proposing connecting questions among the arguments.

Fisiopatologia del tratto gastrointestinale. Definizione di omeostasi, malattia e stato morboso. Cenni di infiammazione (processo infiammatorio acuto e cronico), degenerazione e crescita patologica. Patologia del GI da parte degli agenti eziologici più importanti che interessano poligastrici e monogastrici. Patologie del GI indotte da cambiamenti di dieta e cambiamenti sistemici secondari. Metodi diagnostici utilizzati dal patologo. Interpretazione e discussione al microscopio di casi istologici con le lesioni più comuni descritte durante le lezioni frontali.
Pathophysiology of gastrointestinal tract. Definition of homeostasis, disease and morbid state. Mentions of inflammation (acute and chronic inflammatory process), degeneration and pathological growth. GI pathology by most important enteric agents affecting large and small animals. GI pathology induced by diet change and secondary systemic changes. Diagnostic methods used by the pathologist. Interpretation and discussion at the microscope of histological slides with the most common injuries reported during the frontal lessons.

Modalità di insegnamento
Il modulo Patologia Comparata del Tratto GI comprende 4 crediti (lezioni teoriche e attività pratiche). Le lezioni teoriche vengono eseguite utilizzando diapositive PowerPoint. Le sessioni pratiche si svolgono in parte nelle stesse aule come seminari interattivi, in parte al microscopio dedicate a lettura, interpretazione e discussione individuale di casi istologici che mostrano le lesioni più comuni descritte durante le lezioni teoriche.
The module Comparative Pathophysiology of Gastro Intestinal Tract include 4 credits (theoretical lectures and practical activity). Theoretical lectures are done using PowerPoint slides. The practical sessions are done part in the same classrooms as the theoretical with interactive seminars, part at the microscope devoted to individual reading, interpretation and discussion of histological slides that show the most common injuries described during the lectures.
