Students will learn about the main structure of cropping system models and about how to apply them to case studies on intensive cropping systems.

At the end of the teaching unit, the student will be able to describe the interaction between the different components of the agro-ecosystem (soil-plant-climate). They will be also able to critically apply a simulation model to a real situation.

Practical calculation of water flows in soil profile.

Presentation of the CROPSYST cropping system simulation model

Description of the different components in CropSyst: Water, SOM, Nitrogen, Crop, Climate, Management
